Greg, it's so hard to love God. Not because God is unlovable or not worthy of all the love I have, but because there are so many loves competing for first place. Is that what Madame Guyon is hitting on - our inability to love God on our own?
Yes - God fills us with love for Him, not what we've been able to muster ourselves. All my apart-from-God-love consists of self-love.
In the same way, our worship is initiated by God in us, so that our worship is God bringing glory to Himself through us.
